A Testament to the Power of Perseverance, the Strength of Family, and the Impact of a Compassionate and Consistent Case Manager
For Roxana and her family of six, the journey to finding a place to call home was filled with uncertainty, resilience, and hope. Since 2023, they experienced homelessness as well as moving from one shelter to another while doing everything possible to provide stability for their four young children. In March 2026, they arrived at Oasis Family Shelter, where they found not only safety, but a community that believed in them.
Intensive Advocacy, Strategic Collaboration, and Preventing Housing Loss
This family’s successful transition into permanent Section 8 housing demonstrates the impact of intensive case management, strong supervisory support, and persistent cross-system collaboration. What began as a standard housing search quickly evolved into a complex case requiring advocacy across multiple agencies to prevent Suaybi and her family from losing their housing opportunity and ensure they were matched with housing that appropriately met their medical and accessibility needs.
Through Perseverance, Athena Found a Permanent Home
Athena arrived at Oasis Family Shelter on January 15, 2026, after being transferred from another shelter in San Francisco. By the time she walked through Oasis’ doors, she and her infant daughter had already endured eight months of homelessness.
