Support Services
Homeless Shelter In Place Operations

Safety Net Services
This program has received generous support from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, which has provided grants over the past four years to help address the critical needs of vulnerable San Franciscans. Designed as a safety net for those facing economic hardship, the program offers essential services aimed at stabilizing individuals and families in crisis. These services include access to food, emergency shelter, counseling, and comprehensive case management, all delivered through the Foundation's diverse support service initiatives. The program works to ensure that no community member is left without basic necessities during challenging times. Food assistance helps combat hunger and improve nutrition, while shelter services provide a safe space for those without stable housing. Counseling offers emotional and mental health support, and case management connects clients with additional resources such as job training, housing searches, and financial literacy guidance. By addressing these core needs, the program not only provides immediate relief but also empowers participants to work toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency. Services are available to individuals, families, and youth, ensuring a holistic approach that supports entire households on their path to resilience and improved well-being. The continued support from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund has been instrumental in expanding the program's reach and impact, allowing the Foundation to serve more people in need and strengthen the fabric of the San Francisco community.

Case Management Services
In partnership with the San Francisco Foundation, Providence Fhas developed comprehensive disaster preparedness procedures aimed at enhancing safety and resilience among community-based human service providers. These efforts focus on equipping organizations with the tools and knowledge necessary to effectively respond during emergencies and minimize risks for vulnerable populations. Key components of this initiative include the creation of building safety protocols, the distribution of preparedness supplies, and the implementation of detailed checklists for shelter-in-place situations. The preparedness supplies include essential items such as first aid kits, emergency food and water provisions, flashlights, and other resources vital for maintaining safety and health during a crisis. Additionally, the checklists are designed to help organizations systematically review their readiness, covering steps such as evacuation plans, communication strategies, and support systems for individuals with special needs or mobility challenges. A central element of this initiative is ensuring that community members have a reliable location where they can seek refuge and assistance during emergencies. Providence Baptist Church has been designated as a hub for the Bayview Hunters Point community, offering a secure space where residents can access information, resources, and temporary shelter when disaster strikes. The church will serve as both a coordination point for response efforts and a place for community members to receive support during recovery phases. Through this collaboration, Providence and the San Francisco Foundation are not only enhancing disaster preparedness but also strengthening the long-term resilience of the Bayview Hunters Point community. By equipping service providers and creating a central hub for emergency response, this initiative helps protect the most vulnerable residents and ensures the community is better prepared for future challenges.
