Our Response

Walking With Dignity: Our Privilege in Supporting the Unhoused
For more than two decades, Providence Foundation has had the honor of walking alongside individuals and families navigating housing insecurity. Whether through our own direct service programs or in deep partnership with trusted providers who share our care ethic, we steward spaces of healing, resilience, and culturally grounded care.
It is our privilege to support families at Oasis Family Shelter, where our team provides stability rooted in compassion.
To serve elders at Armstrong Senior Housing, in collaboration with partners who honor aging with dignity and cultural relevance.
To uplift youth and young adults at Bayview Hills Garden, where possibility is nurtured through belonging and opportunity.
And to walk with families across San Francisco through the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program, coordinating care and housing pathways with providers who mirror our commitment to dignity and equity.
Our work is guided by Dignity-Driven Care , a holistic, culturally responsive model that meets people where they are and walks with them toward where they want to be.
This includes:
- Medical Care: Access to health services that affirm and sustain life
- Mental Health Support: Trauma-aware counseling and emotional care
- Job Training: Vocational pathways that build economic mobility
- Education: Learning opportunities for all ages
- Family Reconnection: Restoring relationships and community ties
- Childcare & Youth Development: Safe, nurturing spaces for growth
- Financial Literacy: Tools for long-term independence
- Stable Housing Assistance: Support in securing permanent homes
Whether we are leading the work directly or standing shoulder-to-shoulder with partners to deliver the services to our guests, our commitment remains the same: to provide culturally relevant, comprehensive care that centers dignity, accountability, and healing.
Providence does not just provide services. We build relationships. We shift narratives. And we stand in solidarity with those whose stories deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
Safety Net Services
Comprehensive Support for Vulnerable San Franciscans
Our Safety Net Services program, is designed to stabilize individuals and families facing economic hardship. We offer a range of essential services to help those in crisis, including:

- Community Counseling: Offering emotional and mental health support.
- Comprehensive Case Management: Connecting clients with resources like job training, housing searches, and financial literacy guidance.
Enhancing Safety and Resilience In partnership with the San Francisco Foundation, Providence has developed comprehensive disaster preparedness procedures to enhance the safety and resilience of community-based human service providers. Our key initiatives include:
- Creating building safety protocols.
- Distributing preparedness supplies, including first aid kits, emergency food, and water provisions.
- Implementing detailed checklists for shelter-in-place situations, covering evacuation plans, communication strategies, and support systems for individuals with special needs or mobility challenges.
A central element of this initiative is ensuring that community members have a reliable location where they can seek refuge and assistance during emergencies. Providence Baptist Church has been designated as a hub for the Bayview Hunters Point community, offering a secure space where residents can access information, resources, and temporary shelter when disaster strikes.
